The government will contribute £1 for every £2 donated (i.e.50%) in permanent endowment between January 2012 and March 2015!
What's more, there's an early-bird special offer! To encourage early donations, for all gifts up to a total of £95,000 received before 31st March 2012 the government's contribution will be 100%.
Who can donate?
- Companies
- Individuals
- Families
- Selected charitable trusts
- Local community groups
How much can you give?
- Any amount to be invested for unrestricted grant making
- At least £25,000 to establish a Named Fund with the donor describing their philanthropic preferences, by theme and/or geographical area
- In 2011/12 the maximum that can be matched is £95,000. In 2012/13 it's £145,000, 2013/14 £145,000 and 2014/15 it's £95,000.
Gift Aid
For any individual donations, Gift Aid does not count towards the match funding. So, after 31st March 2012, a donation of £10,000 becomes worth £15,000 and a donation of £50,000 is worth £75,000 with the government's matched funding contribution. Gift aid can still be claimed on individual donations and will be used for local grant-giving in the year that it is received.
