Age Concern Bucks
Age Concern Bucks was set up in 1945 to help all older people in Bucks, to promote their well being and help to make later life a fulfilling and enjoyable experience.
Grant Received: £5,000 from Sport Relief, Community Support Fund and Small Grants. March 2008
What for: Age Concern has received a Sport Relief grant to provide chair-based exercises for older people living in sheltered accommodation. Many residents have benefited from this project and have enjoyed meeting up, making friends as well as getting fitter.
Bucks CF identified a need for this service from conversations with older people. By working with Age Concern we put together this project to deliver a 2-year program that incorporates training new teachers to run chair based exercise classes throughout Buckinghamshire.
